Honoured Visit from the Rishon LeTzion, Chief Rabbi of Israel to Jewish Community council

The Jewish Community Council (Vaad Ha’ir) was deeply honoured to host Maran Harav Yitzchak Yosef שליט״א, Rishon LeTzion – Chief Rabbi of Israel and President of the Moetzet Chachmei HaTorah, for a special and memorable visit to our offices.

The event began with a distinguished gathering of rabbanim from the Beth Din of Montreal, under the leadership of Chief Rabbi of Montreal, Harav Yonasan Weiss שליט״א. Rabbi Weiss addressed the assembly and shared meaningful divrei Torah and a heartfelt bracha in honour of the Chief Rabbi of Israel’s visit.

The Rishon LeTzion spent time in deep discussion with the rabbanim of the Beth Din on a range of important issues facing both Israel and Canada, including gittin (Jewish divorce), geirus (conversion), Jewish marriage, and other halachic and communal topics affecting our communities, cities, and countries.

Following the initial session, many additional rabbanim from across Montreal joined the gathering, adding to the spirit of achdut and Torah. The conversations were rich, meaningful, and filled with insight—creating a true Kiddush Hashem and a memorable moment for our kehilla.

We were also privileged to welcome Chief Rabbi of Quebec, Harav David Sabbah שליט״א, who shared inspiring words of Torah and chizuk with the assembled rabbanim and leaders.

The Chief Rabbi of Israel concluded by offering a powerful bracha to the Beth Din and to all those gathered. It was a beautiful, uplifting event that brought great honour and inspiration to the Montreal Jewish community.
